The Register of Wills ensures the deceased's wishes are followed by validating and executing their will for asset distribution.

Proper probate with clear legal oversight reduces the potential for family inheritance conflicts.

The office's official process facilitates asset transfers, preventing loss.

Without a will, the Register's office uses state laws to decide inheritance, keeping it legal and organized.

Accountability is ensured through official inventory, auditing, and asset protection.
Proposals for publicly funded trust accounts for children could help reduce the wealth gap by providing capital for education or homeownership upon adulthood
Special purpose credit programs and first-generation down payment assistance programs are being explored to help more Black families access homeownership on more favorable terms.
Organizations like Chambers of Commerce and programs like the NAACP's entrepreneurship initiative help small and minority owned businesses thrive by offering resources, networking, and funding.
Policies like redlining and discriminatory lending practices have systematically denied Black families access to homeownership and capital.
The median white household has nearly eight times the wealth of the median Black household. Black workers often face pay disparities, limiting savings and investment potential.
Black college graduates, on average, carry significantly more student loan debt than their white counterparts, which can delay homeownership and other wealth-building activities.
